Goals
Define what counts as a conversion on your site (a page, an event or a click), see how many sessions complete it, and let AI suggest goals.
A goal is something you want visitors to do: reach a thank-you page, send a signup event, click a "Book a call" button. Klickbee counts how many sessions complete each goal, and the same goals are what you map to your ad platforms (see Conversions) and use as the target in A/B comparisons.
Goals are per site. Open them from Optimize → Goals in the sidebar.
Create a goal
- Open Goals.
- In the New goal form, give it a Name (for example
Booked a call). - Pick a Type. The menu names each type by its rule: Path (a pageview goal), Event name (an event goal) or Click label (a click goal).
- Fill in the rule field next to it (see the table below).
- Click Add goal.
Manual goals are available on every plan.
The three kinds of goal
| Type | Rule field | Example | A session completes the goal when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pageview | Path | /thank-you | it views a page whose path is exactly this value |
| Event | Event name | signup_completed | your site sends a custom event with exactly this name |
| Click | Click label | Book a call | a visitor clicks an element whose visible text or aria-label is exactly this value |
Matching is exact
Rules are compared character for character and are case-sensitive: no
wildcards, no regular expressions. A pageview goal matches the path only
(/thank-you), never the domain or the query string (?order=42 is ignored).
If a goal stays at zero, compare its rule with what you actually see in
Live events or on a session's timeline.
A few practical points:
- Event goals match events you send with
track(). Send the same name from your code, for examplewindow.klickbee.track("signup_completed"). See Track events. - Click goals need autocapture to be on. It is on by default with the
script tag and off by default in the npm package, where you enable it in the
configuration. The label is the element's accessible name: its text, its
aria-labelor an image'salt, up to 255 characters. Type the label alone, for exampleBook a call: although the form's placeholder readsButton "Book a call", the wordButtonand the quotes are not part of the label and would stop the goal from matching. - Pageview goals work for single-page apps too, because each route change is recorded as a pageview.
How completions are counted
- A goal counts distinct sessions that completed it in the selected time range, not the number of times it happened. A visitor who reaches the thank-you page three times in one session counts once.
- The conversion rate is completions divided by the sessions active in that range.
- Completions are recomputed from the stored events, so a goal you create today also counts what happened earlier in the range.
Saved goals
Created goals appear under Saved goals, with the number of sessions in the range. Each row shows:
- the name, with an AI or Manual badge saying where the goal came from;
- the rule;
- the number of completions, the conversion rate and a progress bar.
Under each goal you also find the Conversions block, where you send this goal to Meta, Google Ads or LinkedIn. See Conversions.
Changing or deleting a goal
The dashboard has no edit form: to change a rule, delete the goal and create it again. The trash button on the row deletes the goal and its conversion mappings. Recorded events are kept.
If you use Claude, you can simply ask it to update the goal's name, rule or description. Note that changing the rule changes past counts as well, since they are recomputed.
AI goal suggestions (Pro)
On a Pro site, click AI: Suggest goals. Klickbee looks at the last 7 days of your site (top pages, top events, clicked labels, traffic channels and the text of your main page) and proposes up to 6 goals. Each one comes with a name, a rule and a short rationale, as a card under Suggested goals. Add the ones you want; they are saved with the AI badge. Suggestions that repeat a rule you already have are not shown.
On a Free site the button is replaced by a note that AI goal suggestions are a Pro feature. You can still add goals manually. See Billing.
